Though baking in the microwave may not be baking in the traditional sense, there’s no denying that it’s the ultimate in convenience food. If you’ve shopped at Bakedin before, you’ll know that we’re huge fans of baking mug brownies and cookies in the microwave. But did you know that we’re also pretty fond of savoury mug bakes too?
Not only is a mug meal perfect for those who only have a microwave to cook (we’re looking at you, students), but it’s also ideal if you’re constantly on the go, or in need of a quick and satisfying meal after a long day at work. Now you can have your breakfast in a mug, lunch in a mug and dinner in a mug too! Let us share our favourite microwavable mug meals with you now...
For the perfect breakfast in a mug, how about microwaved scrambled eggs? Naturally high in protein, this mug meal will keep you full right up until lunch with only 3 ingredients!
All you have to do is mix 2 eggs with 2 tablespoons of milk in a mug. Add salt and pepper to taste, and then microwave on full power for 45 seconds. Stir and then microwave for another 30-45 seconds, depending on the power of your microwave.
But if you like your eggs a bit fancier in the morning, this savoury mug baking recipe is easily pimped up into a microwavable omelette with some cheese, chopped tomato or spring onions too.
Yes, you read that right! Pizza makes a super quick and easy microwave mug meal. There’s no more waiting for the delivery guy, and with a mug making the perfect portion size, you can now eat pizza guilt-free. In fact, this microwave mug pizza is not only healthier but also easier, cheaper AND faster than your favourite Italian pizza place.
