Mother’s Day is the perfect time to thank our mothers for everything they’ve done for us over the years. And what better way to show mum you love her than with some homemade treats? In this post, we’ve rounded up our favourite mother’s day breakfast in bed ideas to start the day in the sweetest way possible.
Or - if you don’t fancy getting up early to bake something for your mum for breakfast, browse our Bake Shop to find something that suits you better!
Released just in time for Mother’s Day, our Baking Club members have been treated to our delicious Bake of the Month for February - Apple & Pecan Buns! Though these little buns are perfect to eat any time of day, we think they make a great Mother’s Day breakfast in bed idea straight from the oven.
Imagine a soft dough, crammed full of caramelised apple pieces flavoured with cinnamon, topped with crunchy pecan nuts and then drizzled with a sweet icing. Many of our Baking Club members have commented that these were so good, they didn’t even reach the plate - going straight from oven to mouth!
If you want to know what all the fuss is about, you can pick up your Apple & Pecan Buns kit from the Bake Shop now, and buy the muffin tin you’ll need to bake them in too.

French Toast is a luxurious breakfast in bed idea that’s just perfect for Mother’s Day. The best thing about it is that you can adjust it to her tastes - or your own! If she likes fruit, top the French Toast with seasonal berries. Or if she prefers chocolate, try chocolate sauce and icing sugar. Another really popular option (but quite unhealthy too!) is butter and maple syrup! The options really are endless, so why not have a go at inventing your family’s new favourite?
Our favourite French Toast recipe is this one by Add a Pinch. We love how simple it is to make, and you’re bound to have all the right ingredients in your cupboard at home. There won’t be any last minute dashes to the shops with this recipe!
We can’t imagine anything better to eat for breakfast on Mother’s Day than a warm, sticky iced cinnamon bun fresh from the oven. We’re sure your mum will appreciate it too! These buns do require a little extra effort than other bakes, as you’ll need to knead the dough before baking, and wait for it to rise too! Still, they’re totally worth the work and your mum will appreciate all the effort you’ve gone to to make these yummy little treats! Just remember to save some for yourself too ;)
If you want to save some time making your cinnamon buns, try our Iced Cinnamon Buns kit! We’ve made it easier than ever to bake them from scratch, by giving you all the dry ingredients you need already weighed out, plus some handy extras and even two disposable tins to bake the buns in too.

American-style pancakes are another classic breakfast treat that you can top to your mum’s liking. Just like French Toast, pancakes are made up of ingredients that can usually be found in the back of your cupboards, and you won’t need any special equipment. With just a frying pan, whisk and bowl required, you’ll be whipping up a batch of fresh pancakes for mother’s day in no time at all!
Our favourite breakfast pancake recipe is this one by Charlotte’s Lively Kitchen. The recipe contains details of how to freeze the pancakes after cooking, so you’ll be able to make them in advance and then reheat for your mum’s breakfast in bed.
Blueberry muffins are a classic breakfast treat, and one that we put our very own spin on for our Baking Club members back in January 2018. They're the perfect balance of fluffy sponge, filled with juicy blueberries and topped with a crunchy granola topping. Delicious! This bake is just as at home on the breakfast table as it is on your afternoon tea plate!
While we don’t have any of the baking kits left in stock, members of the Baking Club get exclusive access to all of our past Baking Club recipes. So what are you waiting for? Sign up today!
